I cleared the summer weeds and grass out of my low tunnel and planted a fall garden on September 18. The tunnel is roughly 25 feet long and sporting 6 mil poly. I thought I'd take you for a tour and show you how things are growing!
I had just gotten home (week ago Saturday) and was checking over my garden, picking a few items, and on the way out I noticed - the Swarm! It was a nice size swarm and so we set about trying to encourage them to stay by moving them into the empty hive about 150 feet away.
I'm trying out my new pipebender from Johnny's Selected Seeds today. It was fairly easy for me to bend the first hoop. The hoops are made out of 1/2" electrical conduit.
Well, I'm trying to get a head-start on my garden this year. I am determined not to miss a single season! So, I got some grow lights and I will be performing some experiments by starting my veggies and herbs from seeds indoors.
Don't despair; plant those remaining bulbs in pots and put them in the cold garage!
It was time to harvest some bok choy. I think I will grow some bean sprouts so we can make egg foo yung.
Well, we received our first frost already. Actually, we had a frost on Monday AND Tuesday morning. A double whammy.
The fall kitchen garden has been planted, and I'm crossing my fingers that things grow big and luscious.
